Despite Prime Minister Dion Ngute’s promise in 2019 (5 years ago) that Bamenda shall be tarred, motorists and residents in Bamenda City now have a hectic time moving from one place to another due to potholes and craters that have taken over major and link roads in the city.
The potholes caused by persistent rainfall now embarrass a city known as ‘the Town of Hospitality’.
The appalling state of some roads and the plight commuters go through to navigate them can only be better imagined. More worrisome is the fact that the potholes are conspicuous everywhere, even on roads close to offices such as Old Treasury Street, the stretch of road from the Ayaba Hotel through Veterinary Junction to Miss Ngeng Junction.
Unfortunately, the effect of recent heavy rainfall has exposed shoddy works done on most of the dilapidated roads as far back as 2022.
The hell of it is from Sonac Street through Foku Nkwen to PMI Nkwen where foundation stones were buried in the road to cover t
he potholes during the celebration of President Biya’s 40th year ascension to power on November 6th, 2022.
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Dion Ngute harped during his visit to Bamenda on September 26th, 2019 (5 years ago) that ‘Bamenda City shall have the best roads in Cameroon by 2021’ …
